Primary School - Classes I to III

In crafting our primary school curriculum, we've carefully considered the unique educational needs of young children. Our approach centers on student engagement and encompasses a broad spectrum of learning experiences to nurture their overall development. With a focus on enhancing analytical skills, practical knowledge, values, and life skills, our curriculum is both structured and comprehensive.
Learning unfolds through diverse teaching strategies tailored to each child's needs, covering a wide array of topics such as child behavior and learning abilities. We prioritize English, mathematics, environmental science, Hindi, Kannada, drawing, pottery, and other co-curricular activities within our skill-based and integrated curriculum framework.
Our curriculum is designed to facilitate language acquisition, enabling children to effectively express emotions, engage in conversations, share stories, and comprehend instructions. Additionally, we integrate numeric and spatial concepts into everyday activities, fostering hands-on learning experiences that enhance attention span, problem-solving abilities, simple reasoning, and visual discrimination skills.
Central to our approach is instilling a sense of general awareness in young minds, empowering them to navigate and understand the world around them more effectively. We believe in creating a conducive learning environment that not only encourages academic growth but also fosters healthy relationships and supports the holistic development of every child.

Languages

In our primary school, language education is a cornerstone of our curriculum, focusing on English, Kannada, and Hindi. Of particular importance is Kannada, as mandated by the Kannada Language Learning Act of 2015, which requires its inclusion as either the first or second language from Class I to X in Karnataka schools.
At this pivotal stage of primary education, students have recently grasped the fundamentals of language and possess clear communication abilities. Our curriculum is meticulously designed to build upon this foundation, ensuring students develop a strong proficiency in each language. Language skills are honed through various art-integrated activities such as pottery, drawing, crafts, and role-plays.
In the early grades, we introduce the basics of Kannada, prioritizing speaking and listening comprehension over written expression. Kannada instruction commences in Class I. Despite many students not speaking Kannada at home, we endeavor to make learning enjoyable and accessible through rhymes, poems, stories, and artistic pursuits. Additionally, audio-visual teaching aids are utilized to aid students whose first language is not Kannada, with teachers providing tailored support as needed.
During the initial stages, our primary focus lies on developing spoken language skills, gradually incorporating listening, reading, and writing as students progress. Special attention is given to students lacking proficiency in Kannada as their first language, with personalized attention and supplementary materials provided to aid their learning journey.
Our overarching objective in language education is to enhance students' language skills, starting with oral proficiency and expanding to encompass listening, reading, and writing abilities. Our dedicated teachers ensure every student, irrespective of linguistic background, receives the necessary support and guidance to flourish in language learning.

Assignments

At our primary school, we prioritize the holistic development and well-being of our young pupils, steering away from the traditional stress-inducing formal examinations. Instead, we have embraced a comprehensive assessment system that evaluates both academic and non-academic learning throughout the school year.
Our dedicated teachers employ a variety of assessment methods to gauge students' understanding and progress. These include engaging class discussions, hands-on classwork, visual assessments, thought-provoking assignments, interactive worksheets, assigned homework, stimulating quizzes, and oral evaluations. The grades derived from these continuous assessments are meticulously recorded in assessment reports covering subjects such as English, mathematics, environmental studies, languages, art and craft, games, and physical education. Additionally, language skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening are given due attention to ensure a well-rounded evaluation.
Furthermore, we utilize worksheets as a valuable tool to assess learning. These pen-and-paper exercises are administered biannually, at the end of each term, to gauge students' learning levels and understanding.
Our assessment framework extends beyond academics to include students' skills in the visual arts, music, physical education, as well as their emotional development, social skills, classroom behavior, personal habits, health, and cleanliness. Known as the 'continuous assessment curriculum,' this approach is meticulously designed to support students in developing fundamental competencies across various domains.
By emphasizing continuous assessment and providing a holistic view of students' progress, we foster a supportive learning environment that nurtures individual growth and cultivates essential life skills alongside academic achievements.
